Hello world!

Hello there! Welcome to my blog! Let me tell you a little bit about myself.

I’m an illustrator from Iceland. I mostly work in traditional media (although I do play around with computers sometimes too) and most of my work is inspired by nature. I absolutely adore animals and plants, and they are my favorite things to illustrate. There’s beauty and innocence in nature which I find helps me cope when the world around me is too dark to deal with. I also enjoy coming up with characters and I would love to do children’s book illustration in the future.

I am currently in the process of building my portfolio. I graduated from the Reykjavík School of Visual Arts in the spring of 2016 and have since then not done too much to put me or my work out there (which I am told is important in order for anyone to see it, who would have thought?!). It’s terrifying to put yourself out there when you struggle with low self esteem and anxiety, but I’m fighting hard in order to change that. For instance, I have wanted to start a blog for about three years now but I have let my fear and insecurities dictate my actions. But here I am, taking a baby step in the right direction!

I want to create a space here for me to share work in progress and the struggles of a post graduate illustrator trying to make a living, because let’s face it, it isn’t exactly easy to make that jump from the comfort of a day job to the terrifying abyss of freelance. I also want to share recourses I have found useful, as well as things and artists who inspire me and hopefully will inspire you too!

I will also be writing about personal things and matters close to my heart, such as mental health, feminism, climate change and more.

Thank you so much for stopping by and please check back soon!
